An Evening in the Backyard

These were taken on our first evening in the backyard this summer. The days have been strangely cold—summer’s been off to a super slow start. It was nice to get out, breathe in some fresh air, and chill out back before the kids went down for bed. I’m looking forward to more quiet, warm evenings like this.

Eliot Turns One

We strapped on the same party hats we wore for Margot’s first and celebrated Eliot turning one. Matt got donuts, Margot helped me make muffins and whipped cream, and we all watched Eliot eat his birthday treat. His birthday came out of nowhere—I felt like I’d just given birth yesterday and suddenly he’s 1! It makes sense that big events like this come around quicker for the second child. It just serves as a reminder to take these days slowly; fully savoring all of his baby goodness while it’s here. Happy first birthday to my sweet, baby boy!

Eliot at Ten Months

10 months. You’re playing games now. You scoot around on your bum, and when I call you to come back, you look back at me, smile, and forge on even quicker. You’re still very well-mannered, but don’t like to be left alone—we’ve set up the bouncer in front of the bathroom so you can sit there while I shower. We have conversations now—I’ll ask you a questions and you answer in varying tones…it’s the cutest. Oh and my favorite thing? You’ve proven to really love music, and dance the minute you hear your jam. You’re a lot like your mama and I’m loving it.

Halloween 2018

Another Halloween of family costumes and candy-collecting—besides Christmas, this is so my holiday. Super spooky photos and drawing on Margot’s widow’s peak…that’s all I wanted and I got it. Gigi, Tita Sam and Tita Gab came out to form Margot’s Trick or Treat posse on a perfectly cool night. Margot was called “buddy” by multiple candy-givers and Eliot made the cutest last minute monkey. Another Halloween in the books and I’m so happy!

A Family Outing // Andrews' Scenic Acres

It’s been a while since we’ve had a weekend to ourselves, just the 4 of us. This was the perfect place to spend time together. Margot’s got a love for picking flowers whenever she’s out, so it was the flower fields for picking that attracted us to Andrews’ Scenic Acres. We loved it—it was spacious, clean, beautiful and super kid-friendly. We picked ourselves a beautiful bouquet of flowers, walked through corn fields, chilled with chickens and went on a tractor ride. The weather is just starting to cool down, so it was nice to get both kids out in that fresh, crisp air to take in the sights and run around. We left with a pumpkin pie, pecan tarts, apples and 2 cones of their homemade strawberry and blueberry ice cream. I’m already looking forward to visiting again!
